The Ashmolean Museum contains the most comprehensive representation anywhere of colored Worcester porcelain of the First (DR Wall) Period, 1751 - 1783. It was given in 1957 by Mr and Mrs H.R. Marshall in memory of their only child William Somerville, who had been killed in action in Holland, aged 21, in 1944. There are over a thousand pieces and this catalogue presents approximately 40. At least one color photograph is provided for each piece with additional photographs provided were warranted.
