This second volume on American artists is a continuation of volume one. Some 3,500 artists with 4,600 signature examples are provided. Less than 5% of the entries in this volume are listed in volume one (American Artists signatures and Monograms 1800-1989). As in the first volume, a small selection of Canadian and Latin American artists is included. The main body of this book lists the artists alphabetically. There are several sections in the back of the book that address the identificaiton of artists who sign their works with monograms or difficult to read signatures. The sections can be cross referenced with the main body of the book.
The use of the book, especially combined with volume I, offers the researcher a reference tool not duplicated elsewhere. It will save him or her many hours of research time.
