In her introduction, Doris Lechler states that she has often marveled at the trouble collectors go to to get just the right chatelaine for a doll's waist , and then, when she is perfectly attired, she is placed at a table which is too large or too small for her. The table sometimes holds tacky cheap dishes for accent. There is no aesthetic logic for this setting. Doll accessories make a doll collection work.
Doris Lechler provides us insight into the wonderful doll dishes and accessories manufactured in the early part of the 20th century in France and Germany. The doll items in this book are so strikingly beautiful that it is easy to believe that you are reading about full-size antiques. Then when you realize, of course, that they are in miniature, you wish you were miniature too so that you could have them in your world. This books is certainly a must for any antique doll collector's library and will bring great pleasure to any antique doll collector.
