Since the 13th century the Venetian island of Murano has been a center of Italian glass production. Early in the 20th century Murano reestablished its dominance in the world of art glass by mixing traditional craft with the innovative designs of Modern artists and sculptors. Anzolo Fuga played a prominent role in this renaissance.
A multi-faceted artist from a glass-making dynasty, Fuga created designs for A.V.E.M. Arte Vetraria Muranese (Murano Art Glass House) that are, as author Rosa Barovier Mentasti writes "extraordinarily modern for the time and possess a chromatic and decorative impact that still appear exceptional today. His works speak the language of the 50s and 60s with such freshness that they do not look out-of-date in the most contemporary of environments."
Anzolo Fuga is the first monograph on this exceptional designer, whose works are collected worldwide. It is illustrated with over 170 color photographs of spectacular objects never seen before. Along with a biography of the artist, Anzolo Fuga presents a catalog of his works for A.V.E.M.
