Ly's splendid volume Ingraham Clocks & Watches is divided into two major sections. The first is a lavishly illustrated history of Early Ingraham Clocks by Thomas Splitter. These early Ingraham clocks were produced by various Ingraham firms, all prior to 1860 and are organized chronologically. Round Gothic, Steeple Gothic, Ogee, Column and Cornice, Gallery Timepieces, Banjo, Scroll Front, and many more styles are illustrated and discussed as are the all important movements behind the clock faces.

In the second section, Mr. Ly categorizes Ingraham's clocks by type. Advertising, Alarm, Automobile, Banjo, Calendar, Carriage, Electric, Hanging, numerous Mantel, Mission, and Porcelain Clocks receive separate attention, as do Movements, Statuettes and Ornaments, Watches and Wrist Watches. Almost hidden in the middle of the book is a ten-page section that is worth the cost of the book to those collecting American black mantel clocks. This ten page section, written by Chris Bailey, begins with a brief history of Ingraham black mantel clocks, and lists all the black mantel clocks made by Ingraham in alphabetical order by model name. For each model, the year it was introduced is given as well as the last year it was offered, along with the original cost.

Ingraham Clocks & Watches is a new Arlington Books. It is a quality Smythe sewn hardcover with white gloss enamel pages. It has 1,269 quality illustrations on 384 pages.
