Dogs in English Porcelain is the first book devoted to 19th century English porcelain dogs. It considers the individual breeds, from dachshunds to greyhounds, and explores the production and history of the manufacturers. The details of all recorded models are presented with remarks on significant features.
Dogs were produced by most of the major production facilities and most models are attributed. Some however, are not attributed to a recognized manufacturer and these models are represented here as well. Such information is valuable to the further identification of unknown sources.
The diversity of the dogs depicted in Dogs in English Porcelain illustrates how rich this neglected field of ceramics is. Over 200 models are shown in full color and a greater number are shown in black and white. The reader will find much charm in the English's depiction in porcelain of man's best friend throughout the 19th century.
