Instead of turning to Western or Asian art for inspiration as did many of modern Chinese masters, including those of the Lingnan School, Wong Po-yeh is a traditional painter who establishes his unique artistic style through the study of the Chinese tradition, the reexamination of ancient concepts, and the injection of new meaning into those concepts.
