DREAMS OF GOLD by Maynard Thomson.
A wonderful novel - elegant and absorbing, evoking with rare authority two fascinating worlds: those of modern Japan and competitive figure skating. Only a gifted writer - and Maynard Thomson is surely that - could render so movingly the pain and triumph of the quest for Olympic gold. Warner Books, 1999, 452 pages

INSIDE EDGE by Christine Brennan
Figure skating is the most beautiful and mysterious of all sports. When the skaters are on the ice, every twitch of a muscle and every slip of a skate blade is visible for the world to see. In Inside Edge, Christine Brennan chronicles--for the first time--a season on the skating circuit, intimately portraying the lives, on and off the ice, of the sport's current and upcoming stars. Woven into the narrative are stories of figure skating luminaries past, present and future--including Peggy Fleming, Katarina Witt, Brian Boitano, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan, Oksana Baiul, Michelle Kwan, Rudy Galindo, and Tara Lipinski. Revealing the backstage conflicts high-profile figure skaters face, and the ambition that drives them, Brennan also tells the stories of their families, of improbable rises to the top, and of wasted talents. Hard cover, Scribner 1996, 319 pages

OKSANA, MY OWN STORY by Oksana Baiul.
Born in a small Ukrainian industrial town, Olympic figure skating champion Oksana Baiul suffered many childhood tragedies. When she was just two years old, her father abandoned her family, never to be heard from again. Oksana's grandparents died when she was ten, and, three years later, her mother died of cancer. Within a few months, the coach who had taken Oksana into his home defected to Canada, leaving his young pupil alone in the world. Brokenhearted, Oksana threw her skates in the trash, but she took refuge in her skating once again after famed coach Galina Zmievkaya offered to take her under her wing. Oksana had auditioned for Galina in a pair of borrowed skates held together by tape, but the coach recognized the young girl's tremendous skating talent and indomitable spirit. Hard cover, Random House 1997, 46 pages.

SARAH HUGHES - SKATING TO THE STARS by Alina Sivorinovsky.
Figure skating phenom Sarah Hughes is taking the ice-and the world-by storm. Here, for the first time ever, is the true, unauthorized story of America's newest skating sweetheart as she goes for the gold in the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Paper back, Berkely, 2001, 140 pages.

Although new, some of the books may have a small remainder mark along the bottom edge. Others may have slight shelf wear.
